SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS:

Provide daily support to inspect and assess product quality through use of CMM and other NDT inspection tools. Act as CMM inspection Lead to coordinate priorities with Production and provide guidance on inspection. Collaborate with team members for resolution of discrepancies. Follow-up on special requests to support customer or audit needs.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Program, set-up and operate CMM in order to make complex, precise measurements of parts
• Accurately measure features and characteristics of components against drawing requirements.
• Write and modify existing programs and create new ones as required
• Perform detailed first article inspections of prototype and production parts
• Provide CMM technical guidance to inspection staff and help generate improvements to procedures.
• Generate data and fill out forms to support lot processing.
• Maintain inspection tools, identify calibration needs, perform daily 5S.
• Collaborate with Mfg. as needed to address machining concerns and inspection priority adjustments.
• Participate in investigations of issues and improvement activities.
• Follow internal safety, quality system and HR procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Primarily collaborates with manufacturing, customer service, and shipping funtions.

EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• MUST: High School Diploma. Prefer college/vocational level technical education.
• MUST: Minimum 3 years of professional machining and CMM experience, preferably with aerospace, auto, or semiconductor industries.
• MUST: Demonstrated expertise in CMM inspection, hard check inspection (pin gages, height gages, calipers, micrometer, comparator, surface plate inspection, gage blocks, etc.), print reading, shop math, and GD&T. Be able to program CMM and work with solid models. Experience programming and inspecting parts on Zeiss with Calypso 3D CAD or similar. Experience self-calibrating and verifying proper functioning of CMM (surface plate, blocks, probe / styles, etc.).
• MUST: Immediate working knowledge of computers, Excel, Word, Internet browsers, etc.
• PREFERRED, but not required: GD&T certified; basic knowledge on GR&R, SPC, process capability
• Practice logical thinking to solve problems.
• Posses professional and effective English language skills (verbal, written, and listening).
• Comfortable with a fast-paced, multi-task environment.
• Well organized, detail oriented, passionate and committed about completing projects large or small.

SPECIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Be able and willing to carry components weighing up to 50lbs, use assists when needed.

· Be able and willing to work in an machining environment exhibiting some odor and noise.

· Be able and willing to use computer for large portions of the work day.

· Be able and willing to stand, bend, reach with nominal needs of the job without special assists.
